Cherished Memories of High School

Cherished Memories Of High School
( dedicated to all of my +2 F friends of St.Xavier's College,Kathmandu )

It's been months since the last day of high school. I remember how we had bidden each other farewell with mixed feelings. On one hand, we were smiling, jumping with joy and hugging each other, and on the other hand, somewhere deep inside, we were not willing to depart. Now when I look back then, I'm immensely pleased with the everlasting memories of my life in the high school, our beloved St.Xavier's College.
I remember how we had made it into the Xavierian family through an extremely tough competition among some 8000+ students. We had our dream come true, to be in St.Xavier's College as we were among those 512 students who made it through the entrance exam. Let's go a couple of years back in time for a quick flashback.
Section F: 57 students, coming from different parts of the country. Most of us were unknown to each other. New faces all around. In no time, strangers turned into best of friends. The early days seemed to be hard on us. Barely any of us managed to get the freaky microscope diagram signed in less than a couple of attempts. On one hand, new rules and formalities were getting into our nerves while on the other, the wonderful moments began their magic. Plenty of them, but to list few: #retelling of the story 'The Recurring Dream' by Sailendra, #a bang on Suraj Keshari by a Physics teacher during the first unit test in Grade 11, #a teacher asked us to 'stand our hands'(you know who did), #the pin-drop silence in one of the Biology teacher's classes throughout the first year, #clapping every single time when a particular teacher entered and left the class, #one of the Math teacher's philosophical dialogues. Though some of the students found them lame, many others found them to be entertaining.
The days kept passing by, and the first terminal examination knocked on the door. That was when I (some of you too, I hope) learned that even threads were used to tie up answer sheets instead of stitch pins. The Xavierian culture, ah! freaking awesome. We found some teachers really amazing to listen to, and some to be really boring. We even went for a Botany field trip(you know well who took us). Noisy classroom-busy students. At times, teacher caught us, and even the Principal did in the first year if you remember. That was the day when Shodip(e) and I had jointly written a poem on that very incident.
The fixed seats-the rotations. Oh! those days. The smelly socks in the computer lab, the boring Zoology lab classes, the exciting Botany lab classes, the freaky Chemistry lab classes, and the noisy Physics lab classes, the latest one being the only lab where we could make noise. Fast running hands during Bio-exam, blank minds at Practical Viva. Some satirical botany classes from a teacher who made us learn different families of Plant Kingdom. In no time, Board Exam appeared in front of our noses.
Then came the second year with some more new faces of teachers. The class became even more nosier than it used to be. Whistle in a class-watching movies most of the time in English class-Nepali handwriting after a long time and awesome two Nepali teachers-conceptual classes of some teachers, while confused classes of some other. The CR's announcements, money collection for photocopies, thrilling rafting experience, some high volume periods of the Dean, some gazzal periods, and many gossips periods from Mahabharat to World History. Cracking jokes, mimicries, cool dance steps, singing nice songs, and some students who came upon the stage and did nothing but still getting a massive applause from the class.
And the infamous " K sochya the, k vayo " game. And people like : celebrity of the class, the mother earth, the Marker-man, the Sheepy nicknames. Someone aggressive all of a sudden-someone's giggling out of no where. Someone's funny responses to the teachers, someone's innocence in front of the teachers. The winter sun: the college lawn. Crowds in the canteen, Watrin Hall, the college functions, The SET Exhibition,
the Class Jacket: warmest of all times......and the countless other.........
Wishing all 56 you to have a great future ahead. Finally, no offence to the ones who've been mention directly or indirectly. If you feel offended, my apologies asking you to forgive me for the sake of the cherished memories of high school.
